A GREAT INVITATION

Isa 55:1-3

Morning Meditation 12/20/2012

Isaiah 55:1-3, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."

AN INVITATION TO THE THIRSTY

Man is not thirsty by nature. God puts a thirst in man’s heart and draws him to Himself. John 6:44, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."

There may be some soul out there reading this meditation who is thirsting for God. God is the one who is creating that thirst. This is His way of drawing you. You can be saved. Come now before it is too late. This is an invitation to the thirsty.

THIS IS AN INVITATION TO EVERY ONE

“God says, “Ho, everyone that thirsteth.” Jesus said in John 12:32-33, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die." Jesus died for all men. At sometime in their lives all men feel a hunger and a thirst to know God. This is the way God draws men. God holds men accountable for the light they have. This invitation is an urgent invitation: Isaiah 55:6, "Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:"

IT IS A SATISFYING INVITATION

“Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.”

The religions of the world do not satisfy. Jesus told the woman at Jacob’s well that if she would drink of the water that He would give her she would never thirst again: John 4:14, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

This is the water that Jesus is offering now.

THIS IS AN INVITATION TO EVERLASTING SALVATION

God promises everlasting life. “I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."

John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Jesus says in John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.
