THE NUMERIC STRUCTURE OF THE SCRIPTURE
Morning Meditation 3/14/16
I have been reading a book by Grant Jeffrey on The Signature of God. It is a book that offers internal Biblical proof of its inspiration. It is an excellent book and can be obtained at most Christian Book Stores for $13.95 plus tax. It would be a good investment for anyone. I was first introduced to the Numerics of the Scriptures by Dr. Ed Vallowe. He is an outstanding speaker on the subject. I am not good with numbers. Therefore, I have to let others do most of the work in this area. I can rejoice over their findings. There is something else about Dr. Jeffrey’s book that is amazing. He presents what amounts to a new study to me. It has to do with hidden codes in the Scripture that reveal and identify Jesus by name as the Messiah in Genesis and many other things that when you read the evidence will amaze you.
This morning I want to give you a little taste. Amazing features in Genesis Chapter One and verse one: (This is based on the Hebrew text)
1.The number of Hebrew words is seven.
2.The number of letters equals 28 or 4 times 7.
3.The first three Hebrew words translated “In the beginning God created” contains 14 letters or 2 times 7.
4.The last four Hebrews words “the heavens and the earth” have 14 letters or 2 times 7.
5.The fourth and fifth words have 7 letters.
6..The sixth and seventh words have seven letters.
7.The three key words: God; heaven and earth have 14 letters or 2 times 7.
8.The number of letters in the four remaining words is also 14 or 2 times 7.
9.The shortest word in the verse is the middle word with 7 letters.
10.The numeric value of the first, middle and last letters is 133 or 19 times 7.
11.The numeric value of the first and last letters of all seven words in 1393 or 199 times 7.
I believe you could say that God has put his numeric signature on Genesis 1:1. The above amazes me. It does not surprise me because God is not a man and what he does will always put us in awe.
Jeffery also looks at the New Testament. He uses as an example Matthew 1:1-17. I will mention a few: “A Listing of the Phenomenal Features of Seven Found in Matthew 1:1-17.”
12.The total numeric value of the 72 vocabulary words in 43,364 or 6,052 times seven.
13.The number of Greek nouns in the passage is 56 or 8 times 7.
14.The Greek article for “the” occurs 56 times or 8 times 7.
“In the first eleven verses of Matthew 1:1-11 we find these additional features:
1.The number of Greek vocabulary words is 49 or 7 times 7.
2.Of these 49 words, 28 words begin with a vowel or 4 times 7.
3.Of these 49 words, 21 begin with a consonant or 3 times 7.
4.The number of letters in these 49 words equals 266 or 38 times 7.
5.Of these 49 words, 35 occur more than one time or 5 times 7.
6.Of these 49 words, 14 occur only one time or 2 times 7.
7.The number of proper names is 35 or 5 times 7.
8.The number of times these proper names occur is 63 or 9 times 7.
9.Of the 35 proper names, the number of male names is 28 or 4 times 7.
10.The number of female names is 7.
11.Three women, tamar, Rahab and Ruth, are named in this section. The number of Greek letters in these three names is 7.
I have not personally verified all that is stated here. However, I have some of it and I believe the author is trustworthy. I believe that the evidence reveals the signature of God on the inspiration of the Scriptures. These facts do not make me believe any more in the infallibility of Scripture or its inerrancy. I settled that a long time ago. However, it is interesting to study things like this that confirm what one believes.
This is a little different today. I hope you are encouraged by it.
God bless..
