WHAT WE HAVE TOGETHER WITH CHRIST
Eph. 2:5-6
Morning Meditation 4/24/2013
"Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"
1 Corinthians 1:30, "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"
What a gathering of words in a single text. God has made Jesus unto us, "Wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." Can you think of more that we need? He is our life. He gave His life for us and then He gives His life to us. He then, gives His life through us. It is just a matter of following Him and doing what He says.
Do you need wisdom? Then relax and trust Him who gives this wisdom. This is a wisdom that is not of this world. James 3:15 says, "This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish." There is an earthly wisdom and there is a heavenly wisdom. It is the earthly that we need to abandon. Jesus Christ is our wisdom and He alone can hide within the believer giving Him all the wisdom that we need. Ephesians 2:7-8, "That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" James 1:5-6, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."
Do you need righteousness? He is our righteousness. One cannot improve on that. When one allows Christ to control his life, he is "laboring together with God." When Satan comes to tempt you, tell him that you are a bondslave of Jesus Christ. He will leave you alone. Jesus taught His disciples in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." What a commission! What power bestowed upon the preachers of that day. God supples in marvelous ways. Romans 5:17, "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ)"
Do you need sanctification? This should be an encouragement to some who read it. The word "sanctification" scares a lot of people. When this Word applies to God, sanctification means "to be set apart exclusively for the Master's use." He was sinless in the sense that everything about Him was done in the Father's will. The Father said at His baptism in Matthew 3:16, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:" God identified with Jesus. Matthew 3:16-17, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Never has there been a greater introduction. We miss the truth a lot more than we are willing to admit.
The next word is REDEMPTION. Romans 8:23, "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."
We wait and groan like the Children of Israel did when they were cruelly mistreated God raised them up had mercy upon them and delivered them. The redemption has to do with the body. Do we qualify for the redeeming power of Christ? You say, "I cannot come up to the standards." The fact is none of us can. The Lord Jesus in His perfect sinless humanity did everything the law demanded and offered Himself without spot to God. Our redemption is free. It is the gift of God through His mercy to every believer.
May the Lord bless these words to our heats.
