BE SURE YOUR SIN WILL FIND YOU OUT

Num 32:23

Morning Meditation 4/10/2013

Numbers 32:23 says, "But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out."

SIN NEVER PAYS IN THE LONG RUN

Sin will find you out. This is a Bible promise. Numbers 32:23 says, "But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out."

Sin in this verse is personified and it is revealed as a skillful blood hound. It never fails to discover and embarrassingly pull the curtain on your sin.

This is illustrated in the life of Emmanuel Ninger. He was arrested for passing counterfeit $20 bills. A warrant was obtained to search his home. During the search, they found a $20 bill in the process of being printed. They also found three paintings by Emmanuel Ninger. Ninger was an artist--a very good one. He was so good that he had painted those $20 bills. Meticulously, stroke by stroke, he applied paint so skillfully that he was able to fool everyone until a twist of fate in the form of the wet hands of a grocery clerk exposed him. After the arrest, his paintings were sold at public auction for $16,000--over $5,000 each. The irony of the story is that it took Emmanuel Ninger almost exactly the same length of time to paint a $20 bill as it took him to paint a $5,000 portrait. This brilliant and talented man was a thief in every sense of the word. Tragically, the person he stole the most from was himself. Not only could he have been a wealthy man if he had legitimately marketed his ability, but he could have brought joy and benefit to others. He had a choice, and he compromised his integrity. A thief can be skillful but never very bright. He makes mistakes that reveal his ignorance and traps himself. God's word is infallible: "be sure your sins will find you out."

KEEPING YOUR PRIORITIES RIGHT

Mel Gibson is not only one of the brightest entertainers in Hollywood, he also defies the expectations of being a star. He admits to having a strong religious faith. He spurns the typical perks of being a celebrity by driving his own car to Hollywood functions. On filming locations, he stands in line with the rest of the crew and eats out of a catering truck. Nothing is more important to him than his family and nothing proves that more than his commitment to his marriage. He says, "I have ruled out the possibility of divorce; I have just ruled it out. I am not going to do it." And, he says the days of his missing time with his children are over. He and his wife, Robyn, have six children ranging in age from eight to seventeen (at the time of this meditation). He will no longer commit to any films, which require any long-term absence from his family. Future projects will be largely determined by his children's summer vacations. He recently stated in a magazine interview, "When you raise kids, you just want to be around".

}Be sure your sin will find you out.~ God says this is something that you can be sure of. God has taken it on Himself to see that this verse is fulfilled infallibly.

The words "Be sure" is a positive affirmation and is used here by Strong, "of miracles, to be performed, to be wrought." It is an aorist middle imperative verb. The aorist tense is a point tense, i.e., it takes place at a point of time and that action is eternally finished.. The action is a point of time divorced from time and perpetuated forever. It is in the middle voice. The middle voice refers to action preformed by one in one's own behalf. A person is benefited himself by the action of this verb. The tense is imperative. It is a command expressing urgency. It is urgent that we know that our sins will find us out. We will get caught. When we stand before the Lord, He will make public the sins we though we had tucked away where no one would find them. One might say, "That is cruel of God to expose us before the gathered universe." No, what is cruel is to assume that God does not know, and deny His omniscience by assuming that we can hide something from Him.

Now if you want your sins hidden where they will not come up again, confess them to the Lord, and you will be cleansed of the sins confessed and forgiven. What God forgives, He forgets. If He forgets, He will never bring what He has forgiven up again. You can count on that. God guarantees that sin will find you out. He will see that our sins are exposed. The way to avoid that is to trust the Lord for forgiveness. Hebrews 10:17, "And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." Someone hold my mules!!! Hallelujah!!! It is like the old country boy who said, "Ain't God good?!!!

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.

In Christ
