SAVED TO SERVE

Gal 1-15-16

Morning Meditation 3/8/2013

Galatians 1:15-16, "But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:"

We are not saved by serving but we are saved apart from our good works. After we are saved we are called to serve.

PAUL’S CALL

Paul says that he was separated from his mother’s womb. This is a great mystery. My answer to this is the omniscience of God. God knows everything from beginning to the end. This is not an action against the will but the mysterious working of God to accomplish His will.

IT IS A GRACE CALL

There is the words, “And called by His grace.” Paul did nothing to merit this call. It was the very opposite. He was persecuting the church when he received his call. Grace is the unmerited favor of God. Paul was aware of the fact that God dealt with him in grace. When confronted by the Lord on the road to Damascus, Paul under went a complete change of mind about Jesus Christ. This is repentance. He said, “Lord what wilt thou have be to do?”

GOD’S PURPOSE REVEALED

“To reveal His Son in me.” Paul became a vessel in which Christ resided. Paul could say in Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

If you are saved the truth of this verse is true of you. Christ has made a temple of your body. God wants to reveal His Son in you.

GOD’S CALL INVOLVED A DIVINE COMMISSION

“that I might preach him among the heathen.” And what apreacher he was. Everywhere Paul went he left converts and churches. He wrote most of the New Testament. His epistles have been the guideline for world evangelism ever since.

HIS CALL WAS A PERSONAL CALL

”Immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood.” The

Church did not call Paul. The Apostles did not call Paul.

His call was personal. He “Conferred not with flesh and

Blood.”

This is the way men are called today. It is a personal call.

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts

In Christ
