SALVATION FOR THE POOR
Isa 55:102
Morning Meditation 2/12/2013
Isaiah 55:1-3, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."
A GLORIOUS APPEAL
“Ho every one who thirsteth.” It is amazing that the God of creation would appeal to us to come to Him for salvation. We have sinned against Him; we have mistreated Him times without number and yet He extends a personal appeal for us to come to Him for salvation.
There is a plea in this invitation. God so loved us that He pleads with us to come.
A PERSONAL CALL
The call is to the thirsty. There is a thirst in every man that only God can satisfy. God appeals to this thirst. Man interprets this thirst in many ways but only God can satisfy.
This is a New testament truth as well as an old Testament: John 7:37-38, "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."
IT IS A CALL TO THE POOR
Isaiah 55:1, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."
All of us were bankrupt sinners when we answered the call to salvation. This is God issuing the call. He says, “Isaiah 55:1, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." Salvation is free but it is not cheap. Jesus died the horrible death of Calvary to offer us a free salvation. The LORD laid on Him the iniquity of us all. As the song says, “In my hand no price I bring; simply to thy cross I cling.”
A GOOD QUESTION
Isaiah 55:2, "Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness."
Your money is wasted when you answer the call of the world. Only God can satisfy. There is a promise of sure satisfaction.
A PERMANENT SALVATION
God’s promise to those who answer His call is an everlasting covenant: Isaiah 55:3, "Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David."
Salvation is now. It is not pie in the sky by and by; it is salvation here and now. Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
This means that we can be saved in this life. Salvation removes all future condemnation. John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
If you haven’t been saved, God is not willing that any should perish. Trust Him today.
