FRUITFULNESS
John 15:8
Morning Meditation 1/10/2013
John 15:8, "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples."
BEFORE FRUIT THERE MUST BE LIFE
Man is dead in trespasses and sins. He can bear no fruit but the unfruitful works of unrighteousness. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Ephesians 2:1-3, "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."
THERE MUST BE ENTIRE SURRENDER
If we are to bear fruit there must be surrender. God cannot use an unsurrendered life. Jesus is more than a fire escape from hell. Jesus did not only come to save us but also to sanctify us.
FULNESS COMES BEFORE FRUITFULNESS
Ephesians 2:1-3, "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."
John 7:38-39, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified)"
THE CHARACTER OF THE FRUIT
It will be new fruit. Ezekiel 47:12, "And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine."
It will be fruit according to the nature of the tree. 2 Peter 1:4, "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."
It is the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
The flesh can produce no fruit. It only produces works that must be repented of.
May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.
