NOAH SAVED FROM WRATH
Gen 6:7
Morning Meditation 12/29/2012
Genesis 6:7, "And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them."
In these chapters we have a dark, dismal picture of man. After two thousand years’ trial he is here only as a total failure. Only Noah and his family are found righteous in the sight of God. The coming forth of Noah and his family from the Ark are a foreshadowing of Christ and His saints purged by the blood and saved from wrath and ready to populate the new earth in the Millennial age. Let’s look first at,
THE DIVINE VERDICT
Genesis 6:13, "And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth."
There is a deadline beyond which if a man steps there is no return: Genesis 6:3, "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." God’s patience had run out. Let’s let this be a warning to people in our day. One can sin away the day of grace.
THE DIVINE PLAN
“God said to Noah, Make an ark” Genesis 6:14, "Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch."
This plan originated with God. The plan of salvation is of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."
THE DIVINE WARNING
Genesis 6:17, "And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die."
God is warning men today. How gracious our God is in providing a refuge for us in Christ and plainly warning us of coming wrath (Luke 3:7).
THE DIVINE INVITATION
Genesis 7:1, "And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation."
Notice God was in the ark. He said “Come thou” not “go thou.” God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
THE DIVINE SECURITY
Genesis 7:16, "And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in." Note “The Lord shut him in.” The Lord shuts us in Christ when we accept Him as our personal Saviour.
May the Lord bless these words to our heart.
In Christ
