THE FALL OF MAN
Genesis 3
Morning Meditation 12/26/2012
We will take up the story in Genesis chapter three. One of the first things we see is,
SATANIC TEACHING
Satan told the woman, “Ye shall not surely die.” God had said Genesis 3:2-3, "And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die."
Satan is a great perverter of the Word of God. He continues to this day telling us that surely God doesn’t mean what He says.
All the cults have swallowed his lie. They will tell you the virgin birth of Christ was not necessary. The fact is we do not have a Saviour if Jesus wasn’t born of a virgin. In order for Him to be born sinless He had to be born of a virgin. Satan always perverts the Word of God.
CARNAL REASONING
The woman saw, because she looked, and, judging by appearance, she desired, and when the desire was nourished it grew into a deliberate act, she took. Then, not satisfied with taking for herself, she gave to her husband and he did eat. They sinned through unbelief. They believed the devils lie and set aside the truth of God.
PRESUMPTUOUS WORKING
They sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons in an attempt to cover their sin (Vs 7). Sin opens the eyes of the saints to see their own weakness, while it blinds the eyes of the ungodly. This is a vain attempt to cover their sin.
GUILTY CONCEALING
“They hid themselves.” Man has been running and hiding from God ever since. Next we see the,
DIVINE SEEKING
Verse 9 says, “Where art thou.” This is the call of grace. God is always the first seeker. For the Son of man came to seek that which was lost. This call reveals great compassion. This call reveals that God has not given up on man. John 16:7-11, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged."
VAIN EXCUSING
Adam said, “The woman thou gavest me she gave me…” This is what you call passing the buck.
Matthew 7:22-23, "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
These will be lost because they did not seek the right way but believed the Devil’s lie.
THE MERCIFUL COVERING
Verse 21 says, “God made coats of skin and clothed them.”
2 Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." The believer is clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.
