IS THERE A HELL

2 Thess 1:7-9

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

There is a hell to shun and a heaven to gain. There was a time when all Bible believers believed that hell was a literal place where Christ rejecting sinners would go. Today, sad to say, we have a generation of preachers who do not believe the Bible is the inspired inerrant word of God. Therefore they choose what part of the Bible that suits them. I take the position that the Bible is the inspired inerrant infallible word of the living God and that every word of it is true.

Our text says that the Lord is coming again and when He comes He will come “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God. . .” The word of the gospel is going out today to lost humanity and this makes man responsible to choose or reject it’s message. Those who believe and receive Christ as a personal Saviour will receive eternal life; those who reject the gospel will receive eternal damnation.

The Lord came the first time and offered salvation to all who would repent and believe. He died on the cross for the sinner; that is in the sinners place. The message is one of grace. Salvation is free to all who believe.

But the unbeliever must face God in judgment. Our text says, “Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"

God loves the world and desires the salvation of every lost person. But if the gospel is rejected or neglected then they will be judged for their unbelief and cast into the lake of fire.

What does a person have to do toe be saved? The first thing a person has to do is to accept what the Bible says about sin. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

The second thing one needs to know is that Jesus is the Saviour. Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This verse says that salvation is a gift.

A gift must be received. Romans 10:9-13, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

IF you are reading this and want to be saved bow your head and confess to God you are a sinner and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you and come into your life. He will do it if you sincerely call upon His name.
