THE DESIRE OF ALL NATIONS

Heb 2:6-9

Morning Meditation 11/24/17

"But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honor, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

I believe "the desire of all nations" is a reference to Christ the Lord when He comes to set up the throne of David and reign from Jerusalem 1000 golden years.

Just about all agree the reference here is to the Coming of the Messiah. But the birth of Christ was not heralded by a universal "shaking," but rather, we are told that there was universal peace at the first Christmas. Note, then--

THE CONDITION OF THE NATIONS AT HIS SECOND COMING

1. "I will shake the Heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land." Convulsions in nature, and nations being shaken to pieces by internal strife. Our daily newspapers and TV are giving us abundant evidence of this shaking process in operation."

2. Luke 21:27-28, "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."

3. "Distress of nations," and "Men's hearts failing them for fear: Luke 21:26, "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

4. These are warning signals of His soon return.

Next then--

THE DESIRE OF ALL NATIONS SHALL COME

This world is as confused as a termite in a yo yo. They have no idea what is going on. They threw the Bible out of the Public schools and teaching in its place a moral standard that would makes us all ashamed. The Supreme Court ruled this past week in favor of Sodomy and the homosexuals are having a time. Just remember this, God judged the people in the days of Noah for sins like this, and He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Do you think God is going to passively allow this sin that He hates to go unpunished? Absolutely not. When the people of earth begin to match the wickedness of the people before the flood, you can count on the Lord's return. The iniquity of the world is not quite full. But I predict that the stench will reach the nostrils of God and when He has enough, and has given men the opportunity to repent, He will close the door on salvation and the unsaved will be on a path of no return.

Proverbs 1:23-30, "Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof." The day of accountability is coming. We need to be ready. Let's notice some things that Jesus offer the sinner:

HE OFFERS HIMSELF AS MEDIATOR

Someone has said a mediator is one who stands between the wrongs of man and the rights of God. The word of a mediator is two-fold. He is the mediator for the lost when they respond to the Holy Spirits conviction. He holds the hand of God and the hand of the sinner and reconciles all differences. This is called grace. It is totally undeserved but it is done because God is Merciful and loves the sinner and wants to save him. Hebrews 7:25, "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

He is also a mediator for us after we are saved.. There is the salvation that one obtains at the cross. Then there is a salvation from sin that happens daily. This is what He does for us from the point of salvation until He glorifies us at His return.

May the Lord bless these words to out hearts.

In Christ
