THE ASSEMBLING OF THE SAINTS

Heb 10:25

Morning Meditation 6/4/2015

Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Some strange things are taking place today. Churches are leaving off the night services to deal with the lack of attendance. Our text deals with this problem. Even a cow knows when feeding time comes. Our text says, “Not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is.” Evidently the early church was falling into this error and this text is a warning against it.

The words “as the manner of some is” lets us know some were electing not to come to all the services. There is a two fold problem here. First some individuals were falling by the wayside. They had lost interest. Second it is possible that the preacher was not prepared to feed the flock. Pastors can become weary in the work of the Lord and it shows in the preparation of their messages.

Acts 2:46-47, "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

Now your church may not have daily services but it has Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening services. It is not unusual for a fundamental church to have a large crowd on Sunday morning and just a handful of people on Sunday evening and Wednesday evening.

Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Do you see the day approaching? Then be obedient to the Lord in this matter.

In Christ
