"FROM EVERLASTING TO EVERLASTING THOU ART GOD

Psa. 90:2

Morning Meditation 12/23/14

"<A Prayer of Moses the man of God.> Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God."

You will noticed that the titles of this Psalm attributes the writing of this prayer to Moses. Many of the psalms are prayers recorded and later set to music.

Moses was one who went deeper with God and understood His nature probably better than all the so-called prophets, seers, and philosophers put together.

When Moses stood before the burning bush with his feet bare because he was on holy ground, he learned some things about God that he never knew before.

God called Moses to go back down into Egypt and deliver the Children of Israel for Egyptian bondage. Moses asked God, "Who will I say sent me?" After all you need some kind of authority to pull off a deliverance like that. So God said in Exodus 3:13-14, "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."

It is a complete surprise to me that Moses didn't ask God, "What in the world do you mean by this? "I AM THAT I AM" has sent me to tell you (Pharaoh) to let my people go.

But Moses didn't say a word. He seemed to understand that God had a name, and that name told something important about Him.. The words "from everlasting to everlasting" mean, "from the vanishing point in the past to the vanishing point in the future.

A. W.. Tozer said, "If you will let it live and the Holy Ghost is allowed to bring His radiance to it, there can be great meaning; for we are between the everlasting vanishing point of a forgotten yesterday and the equally everlasting vanishing point of an unborn tomorrow." This is not just a play on words. And if you have a problem of understanding it, you are with me in this dilemma. The fact is if you could understand God, then He would cease to be God. God is too infinite to be explained. He has revealed some of His attributes to us that lets us know what He is like. We must accept them by faith.

Now we are ready for the golden text of the Bible. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Just look at those words, "that whosoever believeth in him should have ever lasting life." This is God giving us His life. God's life goes on and on to the vanishing point and if you were to start walking in that direction you would never be able to come close to the vanishing point. There is no end to the vanishing point.

How can this be explained? It can't. But it can be believed. Those us who have Christ as Savior have been given everlasting life. When a Christian dies, only his body dies. He has already passed from death unto life and will never come into condemnation (John 5:24).

God is from everlasting to everlasting. What I have written in this meditation I do not expect you to understand. But God expects us all to believe it.

May the Lord bless these words to our hearts.

In Christ
